Apple Ring

Bread:
2 packages yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup milk, scalded
1 egg
4 cups flour

Filling:
1/4 cup melted butter
2 cups finely chopped apples
1/2 cup nuts
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Vanilla glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tbs milk
1/4 tsp vanilla

Bread:
Combine yeast with warm water. Stir in sugar, salt and butter to help the mixture cool to luke warm. Stir in warm milk, egg and 2 cups of the flour and stir till smooth. Stir in remaining flour, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Roll out on greased aluminum foil. Spread out ingredients listed to the right on the dough and roll up like you are going to cut cinnamon rolls. Cut like you would cinnamon rolls but only cut ¾ the way through. Turn each cut 90 degrees to make a flower type of shape. Let rise 1 ½ hours. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

***COMMENT: This is a good one to bring to work around the holidays. It looks like a wreath...and then you drizzle it with the frosting and put the green/red cherries on there to look like little holly flowers. It's got a really good presentation....would impress any boss. :)
